I had a pretty nasty shock last night when I went online and tried to sort out my holiday for later in the year. My plan was that in August I would be flying out, picking up car hire Alicante before driving to Portugal, via a few choice spots. The shock I got was the kind of prices that I was being quoted. I remember a few years ago you could get really good deals. This time I found sky high prices and firms telling me that they were booked out!
I was really surprised, I didn’t know what had happened. What could have caused this change in the car hire market? So, I decided to look into this a little bit, and what I found, while it wasn’t very happy reading did at least make a bit of sense. It seems that when the economy went a bit pear shaped that car hire firms slashed their fleets of rental cars to save costs, and now there are not enough to go around.
All a bit short sighted really. SO what do do? It seems like the best move is to go through a major car hirebroker. That way you are at the very least guaranteed to be found a vehicle. I got a decent enough deal as well, especially by UK standards.
